The name of the Barbara Church comes from the name of an Egyptian saint imprisoned by her father to keep her away from the influence of Christianity. Despite all obstacles, Barbara managed to practice Christianity, but her father ultimately tortured her to death. Built in the 11th century, the church is dedicated to this Christian martyr-saint. The church's structure closely resembles the Church with Sandals. Its interior is cross-shaped, with a central dome. The dome depicts Jesus enthroned in the image, painted in natural red, directly from the rock. Furthermore, on the north wall of the church are depictions of Saints George and Theodore, fighting together on horseback against a dragon.
